Tim Flowers "It was like watching children play"

23 February 2021

The gaffer was left furious with his sides performance in an abject display at Kings Lynn Town, as we fell to a 5-1 defeat at the Walks Stadium.

After going in at the break 2-1 down, the Bees simply folded and conceded a further three goals to inflict a painful defeat at the hands of the Linnets.

Tim said:

“That was like watching children play, it’s nuts and bolts defending restarts. I can’t keep putting things on in training anymore and coach these simple restarts. We’re in the game at 2-1 and concede a goal like that. It is pathetic.

“They could’ve scored more than that, make no mistake. The fourth goal we concede a free kick and we’re too busy complaining and moaning. They go 3 v 3 and score. It’s absolutely pathetic.

“The bottom line is, when you look in the mirror, you know deep down whether you’ve been good enough and no one can say that they’ve been good enough tonight. You can try and kid a kidder but you can’t hide from yourself. We didn’t show enough pride and just folded. They need to take a long look at themselves this evening and be brutally honest with themselves and look inside themselves and ask whether they gave it everything. They will all know the answer."

"You can coach things until you are blue in the face, you have to show pride, you have to show desire and you have to fight win football matches. You cannot fold in the way that we did and concede the goals in that manner, it is absolutely pathetic.

"Four of the five goals come down our left side, it is bog standard goals we are conceding, we are not getting popped around off the pitch, it is crosses into the box and balls in our area.
