Without a doubt the team of the season so far, with a nine-point advantage at the top of the National League and the only side to hit double figures in terms of wins. This remarkable season for the Gulls may have come as somewhat of a shock as they were only in the National League South back in the 2018-2019 season and finished in 14th place, six points above the drop last season in the National League.

Their form as taken a bit of dip in recent games, as they are winless in their last three league games, though their last outing was against a Sutton United side who are currently hot on their tails and could overtake them if they win their games in hand. However, in between all of that were still able to record an impressive 4-0 away win to Boreham Wood in the FA Trophy.

In the 19 games which the Gulls have played in the league, they have scored a remarkable 38 goals, but they will be without their top goal scorer Daniel Wright, who is currently out after having an operation to cure a hamstring problem.

It was a tough night at the office for the Bees on Tuesday as they slipped to the bottom of the National League table after defeat away to Dover Athletic, making Saturday’s game vs Torquay a must-win, ahead of a busy schedule of games.

The one positive to take from the trip to Kent was Michael Petrasso grabbing a goal, in his second appearance after returning from injury.

Tim Flowers will be hoping that the addition of new players ahead of the game will help to boost the numbers and quality among the squad in order to try and make a statement up against the league leaders and get what would be a first win since knocking Burton Albion out of the Emirates FA Cup, back in November.

Tim Flowers will be boosted with the return of creative midfielder Anthony Wordsworth, whilst Xander McBurnie and Tyrone Duffus are nearing a return to action.

The pair met each other last, back at the start of the 2019-2020 season, with Jack Taylor grabbing the Bees a late goal to clinch a point, as the game ended 2-2, coming back after being 2-0 down at half time.
