Welcome to Barnet, Liam Daly!

11 January 2021

Barnet Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of experienced centre back Liam Daly, from National League North side Gloucester City.

The powerful defender who stands at 6 feet 6 inches tall, will bring a vast amount of experience to the Bees backline, as boss Tim Flowers looks to shore up the defence.

Flowers and Daly are already well accustomed to one another, with the pair working together at Solihull Moors, where Daly played an instrumental part in the Moors second-place finish. Daly also captained the Moors during his time with the Club and is held in high regard by the supporters.

The boss mentioned how he wanted to recruit players who know the league and with Daly making well over 250 appearances for the Moors across his three spells with the Club, Daly certainly fits the bill. Daly firstly helped the Midlands Club reach The National League, as they won the National League North back in 2016.

Moves to Kidderminster and Leamington followed before Daly returned to the Moors to play a crucial role in the development of the Club as they continued to progress in The National League.

Under Flowers in the 2018/19 season, Daly made 48 appearances in all competitions as the Moors reached the National League play-offs before narrowly missing out to AFC Fylde in the semi-finals.

November 2019 sparked the end of a memorable chapter at Solihull, with a move to Gloucester City confirmed shortly after. He has since gone on to be skipper for The National League North outfit who currently sit top of the league and are right amongst the promotion hopefuls.

Daly's height, power and experience of the league looks to highlight a shrewd bit of business for the Bees and Flowers will be hoping that Daly can show similar performances to the ones put in during that successful spell with the Moors.

Speaking after joining the Club, Liam said: "First and foremost I'm here to move the club forward from its current position. I am really excited for the challenge and I'm confident that my experience can help the Club turn things around.

"I've worked with both the gaffer and Gaz (Gary Whild) before, they know what they'll get from me and I know what to expect from them. On a personal note, I am delighted to sign for a Club as big as Barnet and can't wait to get started!"

Everyone at the Club would like to welcome Liam to the Club! Stay tuned in the coming days for an extended interview with our new signing.
