Welcome to Barnet, Mason Bloomfield!

Former Hartlepool United striker joins the Bees!

1 July 2021

The Club are delighted to announce the signing of striker Mason Bloomfield from newly promoted League Two side, Hartlepool United. The attacker becomes the Bees second signing of the summer.

The 24-year-old makes the move from the North-East back home to London where he was brought up and began his footballing journey. After growing up in Edgware, Bloomfield's career started at Dagenham and Redbridge, where he made first professional appearance in League Two aged 17.

During his time as a young player at the Daggers, Bloomfield spent time out on loan in the non-league pyramid before making a permanent switch to Chelmsford City and Billericay Town on a dual registration basis in August 2015. After various spells on loan again where he found the net regularly, he was once again snapped up by the Daggers in 2017 as he went to make 26 National League appearances in the 2017-18 season.

Bloomfield then went on to sign for Norwich City as a 21-year-old and spent the vast majority of his time playing for the Canaries development squad. He then enjoyed a real taste of EFL action when he went on loan to Crawley Town, where he made 23 appearances and scored on four occasions.

Bloomfield also had spells at SPL side Hamilton Academicals and National League side AFC Fylde, but a broken wrist meant for a frustrating spell for the striker who is known for his physicality and excellent hold-up play.

Last summer he once again linked up with Dave Challinor as he made the move to Hartlepool United and scored his first Pools goal in their FA Cup romping against Ilkeston. The 6"3 striker made 24 appearances this campaign as the Pools made the play-offs and were subsequently promoted to Sky Bet League Two.

Speaking on his arrival in North London after signing a two-year deal with the Bees, Bloomfield said:

"It got over the line pretty quick, it just felt like the right fit as soon as I met the gaffer and Dean I knew I wanted to be here straight away. There is ambition, I had my meeting and I have brought into it straight away, the Club want to go to places and I knew it was the right fit.

"I work my socks off, I try to be a nuisance for the defenders and I'll definitely make it exciting! Obviously as a forward I want to score goals, I need to provide what I am here for and as a team we need to push up the league and compete for play-offs and promotion.

Bloomfield will now link up with his new teammates when pre-season training gets underway in early July. Bees fans can see an interview with Mason via the video below.
