Bromley FC vs Barnet FC

Saturday 13th March 2021, 15:00 KO

Hayes Lane

Vanarama National League

League Position: 8th (P25 W10 D7 L8)

Last Result: Eastleigh 1-2 Bromley (Saturday 6th March 2021)

Manager: Neil Smith

Club Captain: Jack Holland

Despite having quite a mixed bag of results this season, Bromley still finds themselves only one point away from 7th and very much in the mix for the playoffs come the end of the season. A lot of the praise for this has to rest with striker Michael Cheek, who is currently the division’s top goalscorer with 15 goals, which has helped the Ravens to not only climb the table but also to be the joint second-highest goalscorers in the league, which helps considering the high amount of goals they are shipping in. In fact, in there last ten games, they only have two clean sheets.

Just like when the sides came into this fixture back in November, Bromley has been struggling for consistency, which has been one of their biggest frailties all season, having only won four games since the turn of the year.

They will take a lot of confidence into Saturday’s game, however, after not only having a weeks rest but also because it comes on the back of a hard-fought away win over fellow play-off hopefuls, Eastleigh. The Ravens will know that three points on home turf on Saturday could set them well on their way to keeping themselves in the hunt for a top-seven finish.

Following the departure of Tim Flowers, Club legend and former manager Paul Fairclough has stood in for 'two to three matches' whilst the Club assess their options to fill the vacant manager's position. Fairclough will be hoping that his side can head to Hayes Lane with a point to prove and the attitude to go and cause what many would perceive to be an upset. The trusted hands of Fairclough allow the Club to continue their search for a new permanent head coach, but the onus will surely be on the Bees squad to attempt to start turning the Clubs fortunes around, starting with this Saturday's tricky looking fixture with the Ravens.

The Bees did have Wrexham pegged back for continuous periods of the second half on Tuesday night, but ultimately only fashioned three clear cut opportunities before their visitors wrapped up the three points with ten minutes to go. It'll be interesting to see whether a change of style may benefit the Bees, albeit there'll be limited time to change things with just one session under their belts since Tuesday's defeat.

The only big positive to be taken from another tricky week is that ultimately the Bees have 19 fixtures left to play and should they be able to gather some momentum, they'll have every chance of moving themselves up The National League table. But there's only so many times that point can be made, ultimately it'll be performances on the pitch that play the biggest factor in trying to eradicate the poor form that has riddled the Bees for the majority of the season.

The last time we headed to Hayes Lane, the Bees took all three points with a solid 2-1 victory over the Ravens.
