Stockport County vs Barnet FC
Tuesday, March 16th, 2021, 19:00 KO
Vanarama National League - Matchday 26.
League Position: 5th (P26 W12 D7 L7)
Last Result: Solihull Moors 0-5 Stockport County - Tuesday 9th March
Manager: Simon Rusk
Club Captain: Liam Hogan
The Hatters will come into this one with confidence sky-high after they demolished 10 man Solihull Moors in their previous fixture. After the hosts went down to ten men, Rusk's side dominated proceedings from the off and came away comfortable winners in the West Midlands. Despite their decent league position, it is thought that the hosts are underachieving by some, as many had tipped them to win the title this season, however, they currently sit ten points behind leaders Sutton United, having played a game more.
The hosts have had their goal threat bolstered overnight, with the signing of experienced Football League striker, Paddy Madden. Madden has scored over 100 EFL goals and moved from Fleetwood Town where he was the Clubs all-time leading goalscorer in the Football League. The Irish international could make his debut against the Bees this evening and will be looking to make the perfect start to life at Edgeley Park. With the race for promotion heating up, the hosts will be looking to do all they can to keep the pressure on those at the top of the table, whilst also ensuring they cement their place in The National League play-offs.
Saturday's trip to Bromley saw an improved performance by the Bees, as they came from behind twice to secure a point at the play-off chasing side. The biggest improvement was the number of chances Paul Fairclough's side made on Saturday, they had plenty of chances to snatch the three points and will be hoping to take some confidence into tonight's tough-looking match with The Hatters. The clash with the Ravens also saw on-loan striker Courtney Baker-Richardson get his first Barnet goal and he put in a solid display up front with Ephron Mason-Clark and fellow goalscorer Michael Petrasso.
With Saturday's draw being our first point away from home since October, the Bees will look to approach this one with a no-fear attitude and capitalise when chances present themselves at Edgeley Park. The hosts have not won back to back home games in the league since October and will be looking to put that right, but a rejuvenated Bees side will do their utmost to take something back down the motorway this evening.
