The Bees will be looking to bounce back from Saturday's defeat to Eastleigh when they travel to the West Midlands to take on Solihull Moors in Vanarama National League action. Preview in association with LVBet.
Solihull Moors vs Barnet FC
Tuesday 18th May, 19:45 KO
Vanarama National League - Matchday 39
League Position: 10th (P38, W16, D6, L16)
Last Fixture: Solihull Moors 2-1 Woking FC (Saturday 15th May)
Manager: Mark Yates
Top Scorer: Kyle Hudlin (10 league goals)
The Moors come into this one in fine form, winning their last three matches on the bounce, coincidentally all three have been at Damson Park coming against sides situated in the bottom half of the league. Mark Yates has certainly steadied the ship since taking the helm from Jimmy Shan, but you'd have to argue that the Moors sit just outside the race for the final play-off spot, albeit it is yet to be mathematically impossible for the West Midlands Club. The man to watch for the Bees will certainly be Kyle Hudlin, the 6'9 striker is the Moors top scorer with ten goals, scoring the winner in our next opponents win over Woking on Saturday. The Moors were the victors last time the sides met as goals in either half secured the points at The Hive against Gary Anderson's Bees. With 600 home supporters in attendance tomorrow, Mark Yates will want his side to reward the home faithful with yet another home win and make it nine matches unbeaten on home soil.
Simon Bassey was left rueing missed opportunities in Saturday's defeat to Eastleigh, after falling behind to an early goal, the Bees spurned a number of opportunities to level the game, in particular at the start of the second half where they controlled the match. They were the undone to a killer second goal from the penalty spot before the Spitfires added gloss to the scoreline with a third in the final ten minutes. Ultimately, if the Bees are to grab themselves a victory in the West-Midlands tomorrow they will need to find that cutting edge in the final third when the chances present themselves. The Bees have looked tough to beat away from home since Bassey joined as First Team Coach and he will be hoping for a change of fortunes at Damson Park tomorrow evening.
In terms of team news, we saw a welcome return to action of Sam Beard on Saturday afternoon, with Josh Walker also nearing a return to action with Simon Bassey hopeful to introduce him before the close of the campaign.
