THE RECKLESS GUIDE TO ALDERSHOT TOWN

——————————————————————-

Aldershot Town v Barnet

The Skrill Premier League

Tuesday 17th September

Kick- Off 7.45 pm

Stadium: The EBB Stadium (Recreation Ground) High Street, Aldershot, Hampshire GU11 1TW

Telephone: 01252 320211

Club Colours: Red and Blue

Nickname: The Shots

Official Club Website:www.shotsweb.co.uk

Brief Directions by Road: M25 junction 12 and onto the M3 and onto Junction 4. Take the A331, signposted Aldershot. After around 4 or 5 miles look out for the A323 signposted Aldershot and take the slip road onto a roundabout. Turn right onto the A323 signposted Aldershot South and Town Centre. Straight over a set of traffic lights and you will pass Manor Park open space on your left. Pass under the railway bridge and you will find the ground just past this bridge on the right. Thanks to Aldershot FC for assistance with these directions.

Car Parking: There is a limited space car parking area at the ground and you will have no chance of a space unless you arrive at least an hour before kick off. Follow the directions as above and after the railway bridge turn right at the next roundabout into Ordinance Road. Turn first right for the car park. Alternatively there are numerous inexpensive ‘pay and displays’ just a minutes drive/5 minutes walk away in the Town Centre.

Directions by Train: Aldershot Train Station is approximately 15 minutes “around the houses” walk from the ground. The ground itself can be seen from the station platform and therefore it is easy to find. The station is served by South West Trains and is on the main line to London Waterloo. Trains normally run every half an hour and the journey is only 45 minutes.

Supporters Coaches: Barnet FC will be running a coach to every way first team game this season. The 2013-14 Travel Club is now open for fans to join by a monthly fee system or one off individual booking. Monthly Travel Club Memberships cost £38 for Adults, £30 for Concessions & Juniors and just £20 for U10s. As a member of the Bees Travel Club, the club guarantee your seat on every trip of the season. All the coaches are stewarded and will depart from The Hive and return to The Hive immediately after the match. Coach will leave at 4.45pm sharp. For further information on the Bees Travel Club, please call the ticket office on 020 8381 3800 and select option two or visit The Hive in person.

Eating and Drinking Locally: My favourite pub in the area is The Royal Staff 37A Mount Pleasant Road, Aldershot GU12 4NW. It has never failed to serve a great pint and very good football evening food. It is only a 10 minute walk to the ground too and a warm welcome awaits. Another safe bet is The Crimea Inn which is only a short walk away from the stadium (on the corner of the High Street and Crimea Road).

Ground Description: The ground is situated in a public park. The Main North Stand built in 1938, which is a converted terrace, occupies the whole of one side. The South stand opposite dating from 1929 was the original main stand until control was relinquished when seating was installed in the North Stand and new dressing rooms and offices added behind it in 1970. It straddles the half way line and includes the clubs corporate facilities. To the left is the very imposing East Bank which has a vast old fashioned barrel roof over terracing. Every ground should have an end like this! We will be allocated the South East Corner of this terrace and The Bill Warren seats situated in the South Stand.

Admission Prices: Adult Seating £19, Standing £17 –  Concession Seating £15, Standing £13  – Junior Seating £7, Standing £5.

Our Last Meetings & Memories: Two 1-0 defeats were the tally last season in League 2.  A rare Carl Hoddle goal grabbed the Bees a 1-0 victory at the Recreation Ground in New Year 1992 and stopped us all getting hypothermia.
