Sam Beard joins on permanent contract

We are delighted to confirm that we have signed defender Sam Beard on a permanent contract from Dorking Wanderers after undisclosed compensation was agreed between the two Clubs.

Beard joined on loan from Dorking Wanderers in April this year and put in several extremely impressive performances during his short time with the Club. The full-back has made 11 appearances so far and will now relish the prospect of his first full season in The National League.

During his first spell at the Club, Beard won the Man of the Match award on his debut away to Maidenhead United, before putting in a string of consistent showings before the end of the campaign, making him a firm fan favourite with the Bee Army.

Previous to joining the Bees, Beard played an instrumental part in Dorking Wanderers rise through the divisions winning two promotions in his five seasons with the Wanderers. He’s had a strong impact in the previous two campaigns as well, Beard first helped them into The National League South Play-Offs during the 2019-20 season, before being a part of the side that was top of the league last time out before the campaign was declared null and void.

The 23-year-old will now immediately return to The Hive London for pre-season training which commences early next week, ahead of the beginning of the 2021-22 season.

Stay tuned over the course of pre-season for an interview with Sam, as we prepare for an exciting season ahead!

We’re delighted to have Sam with us on a permanent basis and look forward to seeing him back at The Hive London for the new season!

The deal is subject to all of the usual regulatory football approvals.
