A versatile Portuguese playmaker, Mauro Vilhete has made over 150 appearances for The Bees since graduating from the youth academy in 2010, scoring 15 goals across eight seasons with the club. Born in 1993, the 24-year-old has been at Barnet since the start of his career and has been local to London throughout, having loan spells at Hendon and three at Boreham Wood.
Dropping in and out of the team between 2010 and 2013, it was the Conference where Vilhete really started to make a name for himself in a Barnet shirt, helping the club back to the Football League with promotion in the 14/15 season. He finally became a solid player in the Football League in the last season, playing a part in 40 out of 46 League Two fixtures, something he hopes to keep up this season for sure.
If Vilhete keeps producing the performances we’ve seen in the past, there’s no reason why he can’t go on to write his name in the Barnet folk law. With many years ahead of him, he’ll only continue to improve, which is a very exciting prospect for the season to come.
