James Dunne signs for the Bees

The box-to-box midfielder becomes Darren Currie’s second signing of the summer after agreeing to a two-year deal at The Hive.

James brings with him a wealth of experience having represented a number of clubs across the Football League.

Kicking his career off with Arsenal, the 29-year-old went onto play for the likes of Exeter City, Stevenage, Portsmouth, Cambridge United and most recently, Swindon Town.

Following Dunne’s arrival, the boss was delighted his patience paid off to bring in his man.

He said: “We’re delighted to have James on board. He’s been one I’ve been keen on all summer and I had to be patient and thankfully, my patience has paid off.

“He’s finally with us and he is a huge signing for us going forward. He can be a massive player for this club and he will be an influential figure both on and off the pitch.

He can really help our youngsters and once again, it’s another senior figure that goes through the spine of the team.

“I’m so happy he’s decided to be a part of it.”

You can hear Dunne’s first words as a Barnet player, below.

Dunne’s signing is subject to approval by the regulatory authorites.
