Key Personnel

The current Gaffer is Adam Lakeland who has been first-team coach at Curzen Ashton in National League North, worked with the Blackburn Rovers Academy and had a spell as manager at Northwich Victoria. He joined Farsley Celtic in 2018.

The Club

The original Farsley Celtic FC formed in 1908 but went into administration in 2009 and was reformed as Farsley AFC -“Celtic” was then re-added in 2015.

Originally called the Throstle Nest the club moved to this ground in 1948.

The modest main stand runs off centre, half the length of the pitch with small open terraces either side of it and opposite. To the right is another open terrace with The Shed end to the left which is a very old school covered standing area. The capacity is around 4,000, 300 of which is seated.

 

Brief Directions by Road

Hope you like the M1 – it’s the quickest route. Exit at junction 43 onto the M621 and stay on this road picking up the A6110 into Pudsey. Just after the railway station on your right turn right at the roundabout into Bradford Road (B6157) then left into New Street then third right into Newlands Road for the ground. 4 hours journey time with good traffic,

 

Car Parking

There is a fairly large car park at the ground (normally free) but it will first come first served.

 

Directions by Train

New Pudsey is about a mile from the ground. It is served by trains from Leeds and Manchester Victoria. The journey from St Pancras is actually not that much quicker than driving as changes are possibly due at Leicester or Derby and Leeds. A 10.00 am train will arrive around 1.30 pm.

 

Eating and Drinking Locally

The social club at the ground welcomes all and as with many small clubs, it is the hub of their world.

The nearest pub is the Jug & Barrel in Town Street.

The town centre is a 15-minute walk away and has a few choices but the club recommends The Fleece and the Bay Horse (my choice).

If you are in Town Street and have time for a takeaway lunch, you must visit the award-winning Croft Street Fisheries in Croft Street. My spies say the haddock and chips fried in beef dripping for just £6.20 is just “unbelievable” and the best in Yorkshire if not the world. The home-made curry sauce is also highly recommended but don’t let me anywhere near it – simple salt and vinegar is all that is required on this delicacy, curry sauce on it is heathen.

 

Admission Prices

Normal charges are £10 adults, £6 concessions and free of charge for under-13s.
