Akinola “I feel like it can be a turning point for us”

Our number 14 was influential in last night’s victory over the Fleet as he was at his clinical best in front of goal.

He scored his first on the stroke of half time with a neat finish, before adding a second goal to put the Bees 3-2 ahead, he finally rounded off the scoring with his third and our fifth with a cool penalty.

Akinola was pleased to be on the scoresheet but keen to emphasise the importance of the team effort that went into the victory.

“It was a collective performance, where we worked hard and did the basics well.

“We got ourselves ahead on the scoresheet which always helps, to a man I thought we played well”

It was Akinola’s first time on the scoresheet since the win away at AFC Fylde and will most certainly boost the striker confidence.

With a busy Christmas period to come, Akinola is sure that yesterday’s win can be a big confidence boost for the whole team.

“It’s always good to score and I have to keep working hard to make sure I can remain in the team”

“I feel like it can be a turning point for us. It’s a positive start but we have to continue now”

“We will always back ourselves against anybody, we have to go into each game with the mentality of working hard and doing the basic well to get three points”
