Rochdale 0
Attendance – 1870 (202 away)
Â
Barnet stretched their unbeaten run to three games following a 0-0 draw with Rochdale at Underhill.
Â
The Bees made five changes from the side who beat York City with Jake Hyde, Dani Lopez, Curtis Weston, Elliot Johnson and Bondz N’Gala all starting.
Â
The Bees started better than their opponents but it was the away side who had the first chance when Jason Kennedy shot straight at Graham Stack.
Â
Eight minutes later N’Gala had to be alert after a breakdown in communications between Stack and David Stephens almost gifted the away side a goalscoring opportunity.
Â
With 15 minutes played Stephens almost opened the scoring but he was unable to make clean contact on Mark Byrne’s in swinging free kick.
Â
Rochdale failed to clear and Edgar Davids played a sumptuous ball over the top to Johnson whose cross was easily cut out.
Â
Debutant Lopez impressed throughout the match and he had his first sight at goal with 32 minutes played but his effort was blocked away for a corner.
Â
He had another opportunity three minutes later as he headed over from Barnet’s first corner of the match.
Â
Following a fairly drab opening period both sides started brightly with George Donnelly shooting at Stack before Andy Yiadom cut inside and fired over.
Â
The visitors almost took the lead on 52 minutes but Terry Gornell was denied by Stack who made a superb save at his near post.
Â
Five minutes later Lopez could and perhaps should of give the Bees the lead but his flicked header drifted narrowly past the post with Josh Lillis beaten.
Â
Craig Beattie replaced Hyde with 67 minutes played and he drilled a shot inches wide with seven minutes remaining after a Yiadom header rattled the underside of the crossbar.
Â
Kennedy almost snatched a win for the away side as his acrobatic volley flied inches past the post in the 89th minute.
