Ben Tomlinson says the future is bright for Barnet – and he should know after witnessing a young Bees side dismantle Gillingham 4-0 at The Hive on Tuesday.
The former Lincoln City attacker played in the friendly win over a strong Gillingham side with young players Wesley Fonguck (2) and Nana Kyei finding the back of the net.
There were also impressive displays from teenagers Darnell Smith, Joe Payne, Tobi Coker and Ephron Mason-Clark.
“We did really well against a strong team. The senior players did really well and it shows the quality we’ve got with the young boys because they did really well as well,” said Tomlinson.
“Our role as senior players is very important because we have to pass our knowledge onto these kids who are trying to come through the ranks.
“It’s part and parcel of football – it’s happened to me and the senior players who told me.
“There are some really good players here and they’ve all got a chance if they keep the right attitude and keep doing things right. They’ve got a very bright future.”
