BFC LADIES KICK OFF AGAINST MAN CITY

Barnet FC Ladies kick off their 2012/13 FA Women’s Premier League campaign on Sunday 19th August 2012, when they entertain newly promoted Manchester City at Underhill (kick-off 2pm).
The Bees finished last season in fourth place in the League, their highest ever finishing position, whilst their opponents from the North-West were Champions of the Northern Division.
Barnet FC Ladies Manager Tracey Kevins is looking forward to the new campaign. “We were pleased with our finishing position last year, even though we felt that perhaps we could have gone one place higher. We have added some experience to our squad with two of our former players Jess Wright and Holly Sandow rejoining the team.  We have also recruited some outstanding young talent from the Middlesex Centre of Excellence.”
She added, “We have progressed in every season since being promoted to the FA Women’s Premier League seven years ago, improving our finishing position in every campaign.  That is certainly a trend we will be looking to continue this season.”
Barnet and Manchester City have never met in a league fixture. Their only previous encounter was an FA Women’s Cup Fourth Round tie in 2005.  The Bees were the underdogs on this occasion and yet still ran out as 2-0 winners.
“We know that Manchester City are a talented and well organised side." Said Tracey, "Our own experience has shown us that you do not get promoted to the National Division without having a very good team.  Last season’s promoted teams all did very well and I am sure that Manchester City will be looking to emulate this. Our pre-season plans have been gone very well.  Our squad has trained well and our performances in our friendlies have been good.”
Admission to Sunday’s match is free to Barnet FC Season Ticket holders and Club Members, whilst non-members pay £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.
