Barnet Football Club is delighted to announce Mark Jones as the new Academy Manager.
The Club are now working hard to rebuild our Bees Academy structure and Jones has been appointed to oversee that process with a view to working closely with the various teams to bring through the next generation of Bees.
Jones has extensive experience working within academy set-ups after working with Stevenage FC, Watford FC and a lengthy spell at Oxford City that saw him manage the Clubs scholarship programme before being appointed as Head Coach in 2017.
He earned his UEFA A coaching license in 2011 whilst at the Lamex Stadium and has been working within football and youth coaching ever since.
The Academy will be back in a new exciting format and Jones will be the man to lead the charge as we look to continue our reputation for bringing talented young players through.
Our new Academy Manager is delighted to get going and is looking forward to the challenge that lays ahead:
“It’s a good Club, I have been here with a few times with various academy sides and I’ve always been impressed with the facilities. It’s been a difficult period for the academy what we hope to do is maintain and develop our existing Under-19 programme and create better links between the Academy and the First Team.
“We need to focus on the older age groups primarily initially, then try to look at some development centre stuff with the younger age groups, before looking to get the junior side of the Club going again.
“The Club want the academy to succeed, we’re still very much looking to develop our own players, now we’re out of the EFL system, we need to do that in different ways. It’s exciting for me because it’s a bit of a blank canvas where I can shape things and help the Academy grow.”
We caught up with Mark to talk about his arrival at The Hive London and how the new academy is beginning. Please click the video below to watch the full interview.
