BARNET FOOTBALL CLUB

Club statement: Fonguck departs

We can today confirm that Wesley Fonguck has left Barnet Football Club after six years of progression through the Academy and Youth set up. Fonguck’s contract expired at the end of June after the Club had made numerous attempts to get the highly-rated youngster to agree to new terms.

Negotiations continued throughout the summer with Wesley initially training with the squad in early preseason. However, the parties were unable to come to an arrangement and the player’s agent has advised the Club that he now intends to move the player abroad. This would impact Barnet FC’s youth programme as such a move would reduce or negate the value of any future player development compensation.

The midfielder made 72 appearances for the Bees scoring 8 goals for the Club and would have featured in the coming campaign. He is fondly thought of and everyone at Barnet Football Club would like to put on record its thanks to Wesley for his service to the Bees.

We wish him well for his future endeavours.
