Community | History made for our Walking Football Team

A mixed gender 7-a-side tournament saw Barnet enter 2 teams, The Blue Bees and The Black and Amber, with family members playing competitive walking football together for the first time.

The Blues had midfield dynamo Marie Speroni join her goalkeepering father Peter, whilst Baz Warren was joined by his wing-wizard wife Jacqueline and son Kevin.

In the Black & Amber, David Lewis was joined by his daughter and Thursday night session regular Claire, and just to round it off Hayley Jane, partner of Kevin Warren, made an appearance for the Black and Amber.

Can anyone beat that for keeping it in the family?!

For the record, the Blue Bees beat fellow mixed gender teams Enfield-Southbury and Arsenal before losing in the semi-final on penalties.

It was a fun day encouraging more women to play walking football.

Walking Football is one of the many Community activities run by The Hive Foundation. Over 50s Walking Football Sessions take place on Thursday evenings (7-8pm) and Friday afternoons (2-3pm). £3 per session.
