Conference Premier Preview: Part Seven

Welling United
Jamie Day’s Welling United finished 16th last season on 60 points, their first season back in the Conference for 13 years having achieved promotion from the Conference South in 2012/2013.
This time around the Wings will be aiming to climb further up the table having signed five players already this summer. 19-year-old centre-back Zac Fagan has joined from Arsenal along with 19-year-old left-back Ben Jefford from Port Vale. They have also signed former West Ham striker Callum McNaughton, who spent last season’s campaign at Bishop’s Stortford.
Barnet played out two draws with Welling last season, the first coming at Park View Road which ended 1-1after the Bees played for over an hour with ten men following Andy Yiadom’s dismissal but fought back through a Keanu Marsh-Brown penalty.
At the Hive last time around, the game was goalless.
Woking
Founded in 1889, Woking hold the joint record for the number of FA Trophy wins, with a total of three. Garry Hill’s men have finished 9th and 12th since gaining promotion to the Conference in 2011/2012 with two games to spare.
So far, the Cards have 24-year-old central defender James Clarke from Salisbury, where he made 37 league appearances last season and 25-year-old midfielder Kieran Murtagh from Mansfield. He spent five months on loan with the Cards last season, scoring three goals in 21 appearances.
Barnet played Woking twice last season, drawing one and losing one. The draw came at the Kingfield Stadium, where both sides played out a 0-0 stalemate. At The Hive the Bees lost 3-1, with Curtis Weston grabbing an equaliser only for Woking to regain the lead seven minutes later before sealing the victory in the 88th minute.
Wrexham
Generally reckoned to be the third oldest professional football club in the world, Wrexham finished their sixth consecutive season in the Conference in 17th position last time around.
Manager Kevin Wilkin has signed both winger Wesley York and striker Louis Moult from his former club Nuneaton, with the latter scoring 17 goals for the Boro last season having featured once for Stoke City in the Premier League in 2010. The Dragons have also acquired the services of 22-year-old defender Blaine Hudson following his release from newly-promoted Cambridge United.
Last season, Barnet played Wrexham at the Hive live on BT Sport, with Edgar Davids seeing red in the 87th minute for an elbow on Steven Wright as the Bees saw a 1-0 lead slip thanks to the resulting free-kick. At the Racecourse Ground, the Bees stung the Dragons with a 1-0 win, Jake Hyde scoring the winner with ten minutes to go.Â
