The Bees ran out 2-1 winners against Chorley last Saturday after goals from Jack Taylor and Mauro Vilhete secured the three points, despite going 1-0 down from a 30th-minute strike by Marcus Carver.

“It was nice to get the win obviously after the two previous games where we hadn’t won,” started Currie. “We played okay in the second half at Harrogate, started the game okay at Hartlepool, but the end result in the two games led to a nervy game against Chorley.

“I know people will look at them and see they are bottom of the table and think we should be beating them but it doesn’t always go like that. We did okay on the day and it was a difficult game with the conditions towards the end.

“We created opportunities, our attacking play was pretty good and we got two goals, but we could have had one or two more goals. The most important thing out of that game though was to get that winning feeling back and thankfully we did that.”

The Bees didn’t have it all their own way during the game having conceded a goal in the 30^th minute but Currie’s side was able to fight back.

“We have by and large in most games had the opportunity to be doing better. So in a game like that where you go 1-0 down, you feel low – I felt low. It kicked everyone when we were down but to respond the way we did, and I’m not saying we were fantastic, but we turned it around in difficult conditions and ran out winners.

“It was a very good feeling that we all shared in the changing room after, that we had won again.”

The Bees’ FA Cup campaign last season was certainly one to be remembered having reached the fourth round of the competition, beating tough opponents which included League One side Bristol Rovers and high-flying Championship team, now Premier League side, Sheffield United.

The fourth round saw Barnet draw fellow Bees and London side Brentford, who eventually knocked out Currie’s men after being taken to a replay.

The manager anticipates his side to bring some of that confidence from last season into this FA Cup campaign regardless of the strength of the opposition.

“They are in the top six of League One which right away tells you they’re a decent side. We’ve watched some of the stuff that they’ve been playing and they are a good footballing side.

“It’s a really exciting game for us and I have no doubt that because I have the majority of the group that was with us last season, they’ll be confident on the back of what they achieved last year. They will go into the game believing that there is a chance, especially with it being at home too, they will be confident and I will be backing them on that to perform to our full potential.

“We will hopefully put on a good show on Sunday and try our best to get through the tie. I want to win every game I go into.”
