Edgar Davids cut a frustrated figure following Barnet’s 1-1 draw with Lincoln City on Saturday.

With seconds left the Bees looked to have secured the win after Keanu Marsh-Brown’s stunning strike gave them the edge but Jon Nolan fired home with the last kick of the match.

Speaking post-match Davids admitted he was saddened by the draw after feeling the Bees did enough to earn the win.

“When you’re leading and the opposition equalise in the last second it is a bitter pill to swallow.

“In the second-half I thought we did better and we controlled the game so it is very sad to see it end the way it did.”

The former Dutch international did however praise the Imps for their overall display, especially their first-half performance.

“In the first-half they played really well. They have some very good players and their midfield is the strongest we have faced so far.

“They have a very good, balanced team but we pulled away in the second-half and dominated but unfortunately we were unable to keep it up.”

The Bees have conceded five in their last three and while Davids is relaxed about the situation he insisted that it must be a team effort that starts from the top.

“I’m not that worried because if you look at the games we have played this season it is clear that we have controlled them.

“On the other side you have to concede less and score more. I think the defence starts up top, it is a team effort and everybody must help out.”

Ahmed Abdulla featured for the first time this season against Lincoln and Davids revealed that his appearance was purely down to hard work and improvement.

“Our philosophy is very simple and it is that you have to train at a certain level and improve every day. If you do that and the players in front of you don’t you will get a chance to play.

“For me I don’t care who plays as long as the people who do perform, it doesn’t matter who you are because I will always pick the best players.”

The Bees face Aldershot on Tuesday night and Davids is expecting a tough game at the Recreation Ground.

“They are a very solid team and their place in the table doesn’t accurately reflect how good they are.”

“They have three points now but they started with a ten point deduction so they have done very well and it will be a tough game.”
