Every Word from Darren Currie following Boreham Wood stalemate

On the result

It was probably quite fair in the end, but I did feel like, although they had that one shot from distance that Loachy saved, we looked the more likely to score in my opinion. We had one or two chances in the first half, one or two opportunities in the second half that maybe didn’t lead to a shot on goal, but moments that we could’ve made better decisions.

But like I’ve just said to them (the players) in there, we’ve been on a run of late where we’ve been scoring goals and we were really clinical, but now all of a sudden, we’ve lost that little edge about us. But the pleasing thing is that defensively, we look really solid.

That’s two clean sheets on the road, which isn’t the worst thing in the world, but obviously we’re all a bit frustrated that we haven’t capitalised at the other end and put one of our half chances away. Certainly, it’s a huge plus to have two clean sheets.

On Jack Barham’s performance

He did well. You can see he’s got his sharpness back because he’s been playing regularly, and he had some good moments. You just wanted something to fall for him where he could get his shot away. He had one little pass from Wes in the first half that was slightly overhit where he still took his shot on, but I think the ball travelled a bit wide.

He can be happy with his contribution, certainly defensively – I thought him and Simeon worked very hard for the team, but it wasn’t quite their day in the final third.

On extending the unbeaten run

It’s pleasing, but we’re here to win. We want to win; we all know that. Again, I’ve got disappointed players in there which is a good thing to have. Our shape looks good – we’ve got a good balance about us at the minute.

We’ve had a conversation in there, that the one thing I thought we were a little bit loose with today was our passing. We didn’t pass it as comfortably as we normally do, but it was a local derby against a team that are in good form themselves.

Again, I go home a little bit frustrated that we haven’t won the game – the same as Saturday against Aldershot, but there are plusses to take, especially the two clean sheets on the road.

On the fans

Fantastic. It’s great to see. They were clapping at the end even though they’ll be a little bit frustrated that we haven’t got the three points, but I’m sure they’ll see enough that will encourage them. It’s a good way to start the year; we know we’ve got a big second half of the season to come. The role that the fans can play is going to be huge for us.

I appreciate them coming out today, I look forward to seeing them all this Saturday against Halifax and we continue the run.
