Every Word from Darren Currie following FC Halifax Town draw

His Initial thoughts following the draw

We showed good character to come back, obviously, it was a poor goal to concede. We give the ball away cheaply in their half from memory, then we have to deal with that cross better in all fairness.

But we went behind when I felt we had a good foothold in the game, we had some good opportunities, Simeon in particular and Jack Barham in the first minute of the game. But we found ourselves behind and then second half showed great character to get back in the game and I felt with a touch more quality in the final third we should have gone on and won the game in all fairness.

On making two changes at the break

Ephron is a powerful boy, gets hold of it, gets at people and asks questions of defenders. He was putting a few balls in the box, playing up there and contributed to the equaliser.

Mauro I felt that, Mazza can defend, he can do a job defensively. But where I felt where their wing-backs weren’t threatening us going forward, they were sitting in, I felt like I needed someone to get at their wing-back rather than full-back vs full-back. So I thought that they both contributed to a better a second half in all fairness, so they helped us get back into the game and were part of a team that should have gone on and won the game.

On the chances we created and whether we were unfortunate not to take the win

Maybe we were a little bit unfortunate, for all of our approach play I still want us to be better in the final third. We got up and in around their box quite well and quite comfortably, but then just whether our crossing wasn’t right or we weren’t taking opportunities to shoot, or when balls were flying across the goal we weren’t getting on the end of it. But you know we need a goal scorer don’t we, I keep saying it but I’m not getting anywhere with it.

On maintaining our unbeaten run

Yeah, the character has been excellent, the run stretches to seven games and I think we have looked good in that period. We look quite solid defensively, they were a little bit of a threat today on the counter-attack with how they play, one or two players in attacking areas that are useful.

Having said that I felt we limited them to not too many opportunities, but I feel a bit disappointed that we haven’t in the last three games, we’ve had opportunities to win the game. There’s sometimes where you take a point and you draw that you can go yeah I’m happy enough with that point. But in all fairness on the balance of play today I feel that it is two dropped.

On the FA Trophy trip to Farsley

Yeah I want to go as far as we can and I want to get to Wembley, we’re only a handful of games away from it so it’s a good opportunity. I might take the opportunity to use one or two others where we can get seven on the bench, so I’m hoping with a good weeks training I can have Shaq Coulthirst around us again, it might come a little bit early next week for Ricardo and Sweens.

But certainly, the plan is to get Shaq involved at some point next week, but we go there in good form and confident and hopeful of winning the game and going through.

On the support his team received

They really tried to help us today, they really got behind us. It was really encouraging how they were cheering and come out in their numbers so I’m really pleased. Just disappointed for them that we haven’t managed to win the game for them, but they tried their hardest to suck the ball into the goal!

So as always win, lose or draw I always appreciate their support and getting behind the team.
