FA Cup: Barnet 3-0 Concord Rangers

Keanu Marsh-Brown and a Dani Lopez double secured a 3-0 win over Concord Rangers to ensure Barnet go into tomorrow’s FA Cup First Round Draw.

The Bees were dominant from start to finish against their Skrill South opponents who rarely troubled Graham Stack and his back four.

KMB opened the scoring with 20 minutes played as he cooly slotted home from a Dani Lopez cross before the Spainiard got a goal of his own six minutes later, he added his second with 20 minutes remaining.

No changes were made following last weekend’s 0-1 win over Hereford United but Elliot Johnson did return to the bench following a spell on the sidelines.

Concord made a decent start to the match but following the ten minute mark the Bees took control and they opened the scoring with 20 minutes played.

On-loan Stevenage forward Dani Lopez picked up the ball on the right-wing before dashing to the byline and rolling the ball back to the penalty spot where KMB stroked the ball into the corner of the net.

Luisma Villa curled an effort wide on 25 but the Bees doubled their lead one minute later when Lopez met Keiron Cadogan’s cross to power a header past Jamie Butler.

The Beach Boys’ best opportunity of the match came with five minutes of the first-half remaining when Stack got the faintest of touches to turn Gary Ogilvie’s shot around the post.

Barnet made one change at the break with Mark Byrne continuing his recovery from injury in place of Jack Saville who received a knock to the head midway through the first-half.

Little happened in the second period with the Bees happy to control the tempo of the game and restrict the visitors to limited ventures into the Barnet half.

With 25 minutes remaining Cagodan tested Butler from range but the keeper saved comfortably before Marciano Mengerink replaced KMB.

Lopez sealed the win five minutes later as he latched onto Villa’s superbly weighted through ball and lashed the ball past Butler.

Villa might have got a goal of his own soon after as he sent a 25-yard free-kick crashing against the inside of the post.

The Spaniard seemed desperate to score and he went close again on two occasions, curling an effort just wide after almost lobbing the Concord keeper from his own half.

Lopez also saw a shot blocked before the final whistle but it was very much job done for the Bees who go into the hat for tomorrow’s first round draw.

The First Round Draw will be shown live on ITV on Sunday at 1.30pm and they will also be showing an extended feature from today’s 3-0 win so be sure to tune in!
