Connor signed for Barnet having arrived from Boreham Wood. The experienced midfielder signed his first professional contract at Watford in 2011 and made eight championship appearances. Smith then went on to win two promotions from League Two in as many seasons with AFC Wimbledon and Plymouth Argyle. He also played a pivotal role in the Wealdstone’s promotion from the National League in 2019/20 under Dean Brennan’s stewardship. The 29-year-old was part of The Woods team that reached the Emirates FA Cup quarter-final last season, having beaten AFC Wimbledon and AFC Bournemouth along the way. Smith has also had a taste of international football after representing the Republic of Ireland at U17, U19 and U21 levels. After John Dreyer’s departure to Burton Albion in the summer, Connor was promoted to assistant manager.
