FULLER DELIGHTED WITH WIN

Barry Fuller was in a jubilant mood following Barnet’s 2-0 win over Southend United at Underhill.

Goals from Jake Hyde and Dani Lopez sealed the win for the Bees who travel to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.

Speaking exclusively to barnetfc.com, Fuller admitted it may not have been pretty but it was very much mission accomplished.

“We said in the dressing room post-match that we have played a lot better than we did and got nothing but these things even themselves out over the season.

“We showed a lot character, dug in and ground out a result, plus we kept another clean sheet which is also very pleasing.”

Fuller also revealed that the win was a little sweeter following the reverse fixture that saw Barnet blow a 2-0 lead and draw at Roots Hall.

“We knew it was going to be a tough game but after leading 2-0 at Roots Hall and not winning we owed them one.

“It was a great three points against a very good, confident side after they reached Wembley last week in the JPT.”

The defender continued by praising t   he entire team for taking up their defensive responsibilities as Barnet secured another clean sheet.

“I think throughout the team we look very settled, when we lose the ball we keep our shape well and put pressure on the opposition up and down the pitch.

“The back four will obviously take credit for the clean sheet but Stacky and the boys up top all played their part in keeping it tight at the back.”

The win also saw Barnet move level on points with Torquay United and after dragging another team into the mix the defender is quietly confident looking ahead.

“Right now we have to keep worrying about ourselves because if we keep winning and playing the way we are there wont have anything to worry about.

“Over the last few weeks we have dragged more teams into it such as York City and Torquay United, we simply have to keep putting pressure on other teams.

“Last night we got the win and did just that!”
