Graham Stack: “It was an excellent team performance”

Barnet’s player-coach Graham Stack was delighted with the Bees performance against Newport County, following their 3-0 victory at Rodney Parade.
Speaking after the match, Graham said:
“I thought it was an excellent team performance from start to finish.
“Individually and collectively I thought that the team were excellent.
“We worked hard defensively and our attacking play was good as well.
“John Akinde was outstanding – he was a real outlet for us.
“He was a huge handful, and he was unplayable really.
“But collectively the whole team were outstanding.
“We played in the right areas – that was key today.
“We got the ball forward and played some brilliant football at times.
“But we mixed it up and were direct when we needed to be.”
Andy Yiadom scored his fifth goal of the season, and Graham praised the Bees captain, saying:
“He’s such a versatile player; he’s played left back, right back, central midfield and wide right in recent weeks.
“Andy’s a really key player for us – he’s our captain and he’s very influential.
“He’s got a fantastic attitude and he runs himself into the ground during games.
“Andy did that again today, and he’s a credit to the team.
“He led the team brilliantly today.”
Looking ahead to Saturday’s match against York City, Graham said:
“We’ll go back and prepare properly this week – we won’t get too carried away.
“This was a fantastic performance, matched with a great result.
“But we’ll be back in this week to prepare the team, and hopefully the manager (who missed the match through illness) will be back in as well.
“York is another tough game – it’s another team that are fighting for survival, so it’s by no means an easy match.
“But we’ll look to go up there, put in a performance and get a result.”
Finally, the Barnet’s goalkeeper added:
“Having spoken to the players in the changing room before the game, everyone wanted to put in a extra special effort for Chris East, who passed away at the weekend.
“We want to dedicate that win to him, his family and his friends.
“Our thoughts and prayers as a team and as a club are with them, at this very difficult time.”
