GREAT WIN FOR YOUNG BEES

The Under 21 Development Squad played their second game in three days at Underhill on Friday night on what will be the last Barnet FC game under the lights at the stadium before the move to the Hive.
The first five minutes were a scrappy affair for the home team which was a little patched up as a result of the First Team travelling to Torquay and the Youth Team due to travel to Championship leaders Cardiff City the following morning.
That slow start however was short lived. The Bees started to dominate possession and string a host of chances together, one of which was eventually taken by Iffy Allen who continues to shine at this level with his outstanding scoring record for a winger. The young Bees worked the ball out to the right hand side with a well worked move, for trialist Brandon Horner to cut the ball back for Allen to score.
The team went into the break one-nil up and in truth it should and very well could have been more. In the second half the team continued where they left off and created chances with Jamal Lowe, Allen and Dominic Vose all going close. The second goal for the Bees eventually came after seventy minutes with an excellent outside of the boot volley from Horner into the far left corner which left the Ipswich goalkeeper with no chance.
Ipswich responded well and had a small spell of possession and threatened to create something. However, this was short lived and the Bees pounced again with a fine finish from another trialist Rob Taylor. After an outstanding dribble and through pass by Vose, Taylor finished with an outstanding right footed strike from the edge of the penalty area.
The three-nil scoreline by no means flattered the Bees and the team will go into next Tuesday’s game versus Brentford at Griffin Park in high spirits off the back of two excellent performances.
