IRO GRATEFUL FOR OPPORTUNITY

After leaving Barnet Football Club and returning to Stevenage, Andy Iro has revealed that he thoroughly enjoyed his time at Underhill.
The defender has played a key role over the past few months and struck up a good understanding with David Stephens that has coincided with the club’s upturn in form.
Reflecting on his spell at Underhill Iro stated that he thoroughly enjoyed his time with the club.
“The last three games I played for Barnet were probably the best they played during my time there but I really enjoyed all of my time at the club.
“I came in with the hope that I would play regularly and help the team to push for survival, thankfully I can say I did both.”
Prior to joining the Bees the Liverpool-born defender had limited opportunities to impress and he thanked the Barnet management for the opportunity they provided.
“I have to thank Barnet because it had been a while since I played regular first-team football so it was great to get back onto the pitch.
“Underhill is a very funny place to play, it is very English but I enjoyed my time there and once I got back into the rhythm of playing I felt that I did well for the team.”
It would take a lot to beat a 98th minute equaliser against Exeter City but Iro revealed that the Boxing Day win over Gillingham is top of his Barnet memories.
“My best memory has to be beating Gillingham away on Boxing day because it was such a massive win for the club.
“Scoring in the last minute against Exeter was decent but the win on Boxing Day meant more than just points.
“The team really started to believe in themselves after that performance, they realised how good they are and how much they deserve to be in the Football League which I am sure they will be next season.”
