Jamie Stephens signs!

Barnet Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of 21-year-old goalkeeper Jamie Stephens on a one-year contract.

The deal will keep the Gloucestershire-born player at The Hive until at least the summer of 2016.

Jamie began his senior career at Liverpool, spending time on loan at Welsh Premier League side Airbus UK Broughton.

He played 13 times for the Wingmakers, before signing for League Two Newport County in 2013.

Jamie made thirteen appearances for Newport in two seasons, and also enjoyed a short loan spell with Gloucester City in 2014.

Everybody at Barnet FC would like to wish Jamie a warm welcome to the club and look forward to seeing him in action at The Hive.

Speaking after his contract was agreed this afternoon, the goalkeeper had this to say about signing for the Bees:

“I’m ecstatic and I’m really looking forward to the season ahead – it’s a great opportunity for me to come here.

“I’ve been training here for just over a week and I’ve played in a game as well.

“All the lads have taken to me and I’ve been getting on well with them, so I’m enjoying it.

“Football’s a team game and I need to support Graham Stack because he’s an outstanding goalkeeper – he’s done brilliantly for the club.

“But I’m looking forward to getting games myself and pushing Graham so that we can get the best out of each other.”
