Kevin Nugent: “We’ve got 14 games left – let’s go out and enjoy it!”

Kevin Nugent has told his Barnet squad to go out and make the most of the final 14 games of the EFL League Two season, starting with Saturday’s visit from Cambridge United (3pm kick off).
The Bees are perched in 11th, just two points shy of the play-off places with just under a third of the season remaining.
And Nugent is relishing the challenge of helping Barnet force their way into the top seven and an end-of-season shoot-out for promotion.
“We have got 14 games left,” Nugent said. “Let’s go and enjoy it and try to get the crowd excited about turning up on a Saturday.
“Everything is really positive. Don’t worry about making a mistake. If you make a mistake you make a mistake. Just go out there and express yourself. But that is within a structure. The main thing I’ve said is I want this to be a really hard working team.”
The former Leyton Orient interim boss has been in charge at The Hive for a week and has been impressed with what he has found in that time.
“Firstly I have really enjoyed myself,” he said. “Every morning when I wake up I can’t wait to come in.
“I have settled in well and we had a decent performance against Portsmouth on Saturday and I was disappointed we couldn’t hold on – not taking anything away from the fantastic strike for their goal.
“There’s an enthusiastic, young, hungry bunch here and I love that. I’m looking to give them a little bit of structure so when we go out week in week out there is a consistency to how we are going to play.
“But that’s without putting any reins on them so they can go out and express themselves as well.”
