Luke Gambin: Transfer Update

Barnet FC can announce that Luke Gambin has been placed on the transfer list, and that the club have accepted a bid in excess of £100,000 from Leyton Orient for the player.

Luke has been the subject of interest from a number of League One and League Two sides over the past few weeks.

The club have offered the winger a new contract but it has been rejected by the player’s agents, who would like to see Luke move on or leave on a free transfer at the end of his current deal.

Barnet Football Club do not wish to develop players only to lose them on a free transfer, so have made the 23-year-old available with immediate effect.

Chairman Tony Kleanthous said:
“Luke has been a fantastic servant to the club, but we have been told in no uncertain terms that he does not want to sign a new contract.
“This has affected our preparations for the season, so we felt that we should act quickly.
"Once agents become involved we have little choice other than to try and secure the best fee we can, so we have agreed this deal with Leyton Orient.
"The player will need to agree his terms with the club.
"The money will be made available so Martin can bolster his squad.
“Luke moves on with our best wishes."
