Martin: “It should be a great night”

Martin Allen is relishing the challenge of taking on Wrexham on Tuesday night, as his side look to return to winning ways by overcoming the Dragons.

Speaking ahead of the game, the Barnet manager was full of praise for Barnet’s opponents and believes that they are sure to provide his team with a tough test:

“I went down to watch Wrexham play at Bristol Rovers last Friday night. They are a good team, a strong team and we are going to have to be at the very top of our game on Tuesday.

“Without a shadow of a doubt they will be in the play-offs at the very minimum with the players that they have put together. Wrexham are a big club at this level and they have some very good players.”

Having seen his side win their last two home matches, Martin also revealed that he is looking forward to getting The Hive rocking again following a frustrating late equaliser against AFC Telford on Saturday:

“On reflection Saturday was a good point away from home and that one point could well be important come the end of the season.

“We have picked up a few knocks over the last couple of weeks, not through training incidents of accidents, just through game-related injuries so we are being tested with the numbers that we have got in our squad.

“But I feel that we are strong enough and have good enough players that can come into the team to win games without the need to go out and get players in on loan or bring other players into our club.

“I am expecting a big crowd on Tuesday night. The atmosphere has been buzzing at The Hive in our last couple of home games which is great for all of our supporters.

“To see everybody so happy when they left after the game last Saturday against Alfreton was very special. Tuesday night should be a great night, with us top of the league and looking to extend our lead.”
