Martin: “They players are getting the rewards”

Barnet manager Martin Allen was pleased with his players’ performance, in their 3-1 win over Dagenham & Redbridge this afternoon.
Speaking after the match, Martin said:
“I thought we played very well today from start to finish.
“It was a top performance once again from our players; we fully deserved to win and it was an all-round good team performance today.
“We’ve played better than that on quite a few occasions but haven’t come away with anything.
“Today the finishing was better and the end product was better.
“But we’ve played like this quite a few times without coming away with goods.
“So we’ve had to reinforce the positive messages to the players; that they’re a good group – I’ve said that from day one.
“Of course the performance today doesn’t make a season, it’s just three points.
“It’s on to the next one now.
“We’re a team, we’re a squad, and we’ve got a very tight knit group of players.
“We all defend, we all attack, we all score, we all do it together, because we’re all classed as one.
“The players have the ownership regarding what we do at Barnet; as I always say I don’t really do a lot!
“McLean played on the right today, Gambin played on the left, Akinde played up front and Gash played in just behind him.
“Then there were two holding midfield players; you could say it was a 4-2-3-1.
“It’s a bit of a flexible system; the players seem to enjoy it and have taken to it, but it’s only really what we were doing last season.
“We’re creating chances, making good opportunities to score goals, and the players are now getting the rewards to for their hard work, and their continued efforts to be successful.”
