Martin: “We had the chances”

Barnet manager Martin Allen reflected on his side’s narrow 3-2 defeat against Carlisle United at Brunton Park.
Speaking after the game Martin said:
“I have never been involved in such a one-sided, dominant performance.
“I have been doing this management business now for 19 years and I can’t believe the amount of chances we had in that game.
“We were 2-0 down and we should have been 6-0 up – and that was just in the first 10 or 15 minutes.
“Then there were chances in the second half and they had about one chance on the breakaway.
“It is another good performance but once again, we have not taken our opportunities.
“I think at times there has been a lack of composure and poor decision-making.
“We had the chances.
“Some of them were from three or five yards out – so close to the goal you think: ‘That has got to go in’.
“Obviously I have to have a think now because we are playing well and not winning.
“We will have to have a look at things.
“The opportunities were there and somebody is going to have to grab these opportunities and bury these chances.
"Apart from the Bristol Rovers game I think the lads have given a great account of themselves and shown there is nothing to fear in this division.
“I still believe we need to keep helping and supporting the players because anxiety is bound to build up, and that builds up tension and stress.
“I have just told them in the dressing room: ‘If you keep playing like that and with a little bit better decision-making we will be fine.’”
