Match Pack: AFC Fylde 0-4 Barnet

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Bees took the lead after nine minutes as Ricardo Santos turned from a corner and superbly curled into the top corner to put his side in front.

Currie’s side had further chances through Mason-Clark, Vilhete and Walker but were denied by Coasters keeper Lavercombe in inspired form as he kept the score to just the one.

Jack Taylor rattled the bar from a free-kick just before the break as the Bees looked to double their lead before the break.

The second half saw the Bees play at their ruthless best as they added three further goals to add gloss to the performance.

Just five minutes after the break the lead was doubled as Akinola powered a header home from eight yards from J Taylor’s delicious free-kick.

A swift counter attack set up the third goal as J Taylor and Akinola worked the ball to Walker who turned in the box and fired into bottom corner to send the travelling Bee Army into sheer delight.

The icing was put on top of the Barnet cake as Vilhete jinked through the Coasters defence, before curling home into the top corner from an acute angle.

It was the most complete performance from Currie’s so far, they were defensively solid and calm out of the back. They were ruthless in all aspects of their performance and completely deserved their spectacualr 4-0 victory.

A massive thank you to the travelling Bees fans who got behind the team all night long, everyone at the club would like to thank them for their commitment for making the trip on a midweek.

TEAM NEWS

The boss made two changes from the 0-0 draw with Solihull Moors as Josh Walker and Ephron Mason-Clark came in for Aflie Pavey and Wes Fonguck respectively. Walker came in and most certianly proved a point as he netted the Bees third and put in a hard working performance.

WHAT’S NEXT?

It’s another massive game for Currie’s side this weekend as they make the short trip to take on Dagenham and Redbridge in the Manarama National League. The Daggers sit just one place below the Bees in the table so it will be another test but confidence will be high for the trip to East London.
