Dave Challinor 

 

Born in Chester, Challinor played as a defender in the Football League for Tranmere Rovers, Stockport County and Bury before retiring in 2008 due to a knee injury.

 

The 46-year-old began his managerial journey in 2010 with Colwyn Bay and then AFC Flyde in 2011. 

 

He stayed at Flyde for eight years before leaving for Hartlepool United in 2019. Whilst in the North East, Challinor enjoyed success and earned promotion to the Football League in 2021 after a dramatic play-off penalty shoot-out. 

 

During his time at Stockport so far he has guided the club to the top of the league and had an impressive 5-3 win against Bolton Wanderers in the Emirates FA Cup. 

 

ONE TO WATCH

 

Paddy Madden

 

The Hatters’ top scorer started his career in Ireland, scoring 14 goals in 53 games before joining English side Carlisle United in 2011. 

 

Madden has enjoyed rich goalscoring form whilst playing for the likes of career for the likes of Yeovil Town, Scunthorpe United and Fleetwood Town.

 

The 31-year-old left Highbury Stadium to join Stockport County in the summer of 2021.
