Fixture: Dagenham and Redbridge vs Barnet
Time: 15:00
Date: Saturday 24th September 2022
Competition: Vanarama National League
Venue: Chigwell Construction Stadium (Victoria Road)
The Bees are back on the road this Saturday as Dean Brennan’s side travel to Essex to face 13th placed Dagenham & Redbridge. A win is absolutely imperative, following 3 games without a win in the National League.
Â
With the Daggers sat 4 places below us in the league, with more losses than wins to their name, Saturday could be a perfect opportunity to shake off our malaise and find some winning form.
ABOUT OUR OPPOSITION:
Â
Nickname: Daggers
Founded: 1992
Stadium: Chigwell Construction Stadium (6,078 capacity)
Manager: Daryl McMahon
Top Scorer: Junior Morias (4 goals)
League Position: 13th
Form: WLLWL
Recent Result: Dagenham & Redbridge 4-1 Altrincham
ONE TO WATCH: Junior Morias
Â
Junior Morias, who currently leads the Daggers for goals scored this season (4), was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and started his career at Wycombe Wanderers in 2012.
Â
With bags of pace and relentless pressing ability, the striker has played for a number of clubs in the English pyramid, such as Hendon, Boreham Wood, St Albans City, Peterborough, and Northampton Town.
Â
Morias signed for Daryl McMahon’s Dagenham side in 2021, and has since gone on to make 33 appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals in the process.
Â
Last time the Bees faced Junior, we were subject to a twelve-minute hattrick, and Brennan’s defence will have to be on the top of their game in order to keep the pacey striker quiet this time around.
IN THE DUGOUT: Daryl McMahon
Daryl McMahon had an extensive professional playing career which began at West Ham United as a trainee. Whilst at the Hammers’ youth set-up McMahon represented the Republic of Ireland at U16, U17 and U18 level.
Â
During his playing career the 38-year-old also enjoyed notable spells at Leyton Orient, Stevenage, Farnborough, and Ebbsfleet United before hanging his boots up at Boreham Wood.
Â
McMahon’s first managerial role came at Ebbsfleet United after impressing in a spell as caretaker manager. After departing the Fleet in 2018, he took charge of Macclesfield Town.
Â
McMahon joined Dagenham & Redbridge in 2020 and has won Manager of the Month twice since his takeover.
