Match Report: Barnet u18 3-1 Edgware Town u18s

The Bees progressed into the third qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup with a comeback victory over Edgware Town.

Hadi Issa did give the visitors the lead but second-half strikes from George Murphy, Okem Chime and Wraynel Hercules secured the victory.

In a tightly contested first 20 minutes, the Bees found themselves in a game as Edgware threatened on the break.

Barnet’s first real opening came as Wraynel Hercules was found in acres of space on the right-hand side and his cross-cum-shot had the beating of the Edgware ‘keeper, but was just wide of the far post.

Kahlil Francis had a great chance for the visitors as he poked past Aymen Azaze in the Barnet net, however, Finlay Titchmarsh was quick on his feet to clear the danger.

Just moments later, however, it was the visitors who would make their positive start count.

Isaa came flying down the left hand side and impressively lobbed over Azaze in the Bees net to score the opener on the night.

The Bees came out the brighter in the second half as Hadley Gleeson and Chime had opportunities to level the scoreline but Daniel Mohannadi, the substitute Edgware goalkeeper, stood up to deny both.

Chime then had the ball in the back of the net but the linesman’s flag was up to deny him before just moments later, the bees found themselves on level terms.

The equaliser came as Murphy beat his marker on the edge of the box before slamming into the far corner.

The Bees took the lead with 12 minutes to go as Okem Chime powered a header home from Juan Castillo’s free-kick.

And with five minutes to go Hercules ensured the Bees progressed with a cross-cum-shot that flew into the top corner
