Match Report: Newport County 0 – 3 Barnet

Andy Yiadom’s first half strike set Barnet on the way to a convincing 3-0 victory over Newport County.
The Bees captain opened the scoring, before Mark Randall fired home his first for the club in the 45th minute.
John Akinde connected with Luke Gambin’s 68th minute cross to seal victory over the in-form Exiles.
Barnet took the lead with the first chance of the match.
Alie Sesay burst down the left wing in the eighth minute, before delivering a low cross that was coolly slotted past the keeper by Yiadom.
An 18th minute ball into the box from James Pearson was met by Akinde, but his header was straight at Newport keeper Joe Day.
The Exiles almost levelled in the 32nd minute – John Ayina’s powerful shot was acrobatically tipped over by Jamie Stephens.
Randall’s 37th minute free kick flew just over the bar, as the Bees went in search of a second goal.
That goal came on the stroke of half time, when Akinde was pushed over in the box by Janoi Donacien.
The striker’s penalty was saved by Day, but the rebound was powered home by Randall to double Barnet’s advantage.
In the 49th minute Luke Gambin had another great chance the Bees.
The winger received the ball in space on the left after good work from Akinde, but his shot was charged down by Alex Rodman.
Stephens saved Dean Morgan’s close range effort on 58 minutes, before Akinde responded with a low drive that drifted wide of the left post.
Barnet added a third with just over 20 minutes to play, when Akinde headed Gambin’s left sided cross past Day and into the net.
Newport tried to find their way back into the match, but an impressive defensive display ensured that the Bees took all three points back to North London.
