Michael Nelson signs up for next season!

Michael Nelson has signed a new contract with the Bees – keeping him at the club until the end of next season.

The centre-back made 32 appearances for Barnet last term, having arrived at The Hive in August 2015.

He has played 634 professional matches to date, and will be hoping to add to that total with the Bees in 2016-17.

Reflecting on the news, Michael said:

“I’m delighted to have signed a new contract with the club.

“I’ve been speaking to the Manager and the Chairman throughout May, to get everything sorted.

“I came down today to get the contract signed – now I’m heading back home to enjoy the rest of the summer!

“Everything went well last season and I really enjoyed it.

“I had one disappointing spell out injured, where I missed a bit of game time. But it was enjoyable overall.

“This group of players seem to be quite together, so hopefully next season will be even better than last year!

“I’m sure that once the manager builds his squad he’ll have a target in pre-season.

“But I think that the club just wants to keep progressing.

“We want to improve on last year – win more games, get more points, and see where it takes us.

“Personally I think that there is more to come from me next season too.

“I was pleased with how I played towards the back end of the campaign.

“I would like to have been a bit more involved at the start of the season, but I’m quite pleased with how I finished it.

“Hopefully I can carry that form into next season and keep progressing.”
