Sweeney featured in every match in April, a month which saw the Bees pick up 10 points and give them a real chance of EFL survival.
Given the armband in mid-March by Martin Allen, Sweeney’s leadership credentials have been clear to see and he has become a firm crowd favourite at The Hive London with his committed displays on the pitch.
This is the second successive piece of recognition for Dan Sweeney as yesterday he was named in the EFL Team of the Week.
