Barnet suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Plymouth Argyle at Home Park on Saturday.Â
The Bees took the lead after 21 minutes through Jake Hyde but the Pilgrims hit back with goals from Conor Hourihane and Ronan Murray.Â
The home side started well and in truth the Bees struggled to find a foothold in the opening moments of the match.Â
Reuben Reid provided the main threat for the Pilgrims and he had two opportunities in the first quarter of an hour.Â
The forward shot straight at Stack with 10 minutes played before shooting wide two minutes later after Edgar Davids was dispossessed.Â
After absorbing the early pressure the Bees began to get the ball down and play and it soon paid off.Â
With 21 minutes played Elliot Johnson was able to fly down the left and cross to Hyde who lost Branston to poke the ball home.Â
The Bees looked comfortable after taking the lead but they were stunned in the 36th minute as Hourihane curled a fine effort beyond the motionless Stack from 25-yards.Â
The half came to a quiet close but after goalscorer Hyde departed for Luke Gambin at the break the hosts burst out of the blocks.Â
With 49 minutes played the Pilgrims took the lead when the ball fell to Murray in the box and he remained composed to score his first goal for the club.Â
The home side had the better of the second-half but the introduction of Iffy Allen for Andy Yiadom with 15 minutes to play gave the Bees a fresh dimension.Â
The forward almost made an instant impact but he was denied a first Barnet goal by Jake Cole who made a superb stop.Â
The Plymouth keeper made another save from the resulting corner as he gathered Dani Lopez’s header as the game ended 2-1.
