The opposition

The Coasters were one of those tipped to be at the top of the Manarama National League but have made a slow start to the season. They currently sit 18th in the table but know a third successive home win will take them to 13th and away from the relegation places.

Their league position has mostly been affected by their poor form away from Mill Farm this season, where they have only picked up one win and that was on the opening day of the season against Aldershot Town. On the other hand, the home form has been good and they have only tasted defeat once in front of their own fans, a 4-1 defeat at the hands of high flyers Woking. This will be no means an easy game for Darren Currie’s side.

The hosts have won their previous two home matches and scored six in the process, so there is the possibility of an open and entertaining match this evening.

The Gaffer: Dave Challinor

The AFC Fylde boss has been with the Coasters since 2011 and has had a very successful spell with the Lancashire club. He has guided the club to two promotions so far, most notably becoming National League North champions in the 2016-17 season. He also got to the first round proper of the FA Cup in his first season in charge.

Last season was one to remember for the Fylde faithful, albeit it ended in heartbreak as they lost out to Salford City in the play-off final at Wembley Stadium. However, they returned to the national stadium to redeem themselves as they defeated Leyton Orient 1-0 in the FA Trophy final. The Coasters boss will look to turn their early season form around and go one better this time out.

Last time out

The Bees will be looking to gain revenge this evening, as they lost out on their last trip to Mill Farm. Currie’s side were beaten 1-0 as Danny Rowe netted the only goal in April 2019, as Dan Sweeney was dismissed in the first half. In fact, it compounded more misery on the Bees as they had previously lost on penalties in the FA Trophy following a 0-0 draw in February.

One to watch – Danny Rowe

Rowe is the Coasters top goalscorer with four goals so far in this campaign, he netted on his last outing on home turf. He will be looking to make it two goals in as many matches against the Bees, so Currie’s defence will need to replicate their strong performance on Saturday against Solihull Moors.
