Retained list for new season announced

Barnet FC are pleased to be able to confirm their retained list ahead of the forthcoming season and their return to the Football League.

Discussing his decisions, Martin Allen – who earlier signed a contract extension with the club – outlined which players would be staying and who would be moving on as the Bees prepare for their return to the Football League:

“Lee Cook and Jack Saville have not been offered new deals for next season. Both have been really good players for us and both are good friends to me.

“I believe that Sav needs to get out and play forty games in order for his career to evolve and to see where it can take him.

“With regards to Cookie it has been my hardest decision. He has won us games with his brilliant skills and shooting ability, he has been a real help to me off the pitch with help and guidance, and he has been a model professional.

“He has not been bothered at having to clean his own kit and boots, not bothered that we don’t stop in nice hotels for pre-match, and not bothered that we bring our own food. After having it throughout his playing career he could have rolled his eyes and moaned. He’s a diamond bloke, a great player and a champion.

“We will be taking up the options to extend the contracts of Andy Yiadom, Bondz N’Gala, Curtis Weston, Luke Gambin, Luisma Villa and Elliott Johnson.

“New contracts will be offered to Michael Gash, Sam Togwell and David Stephens.

“Further discussions will take place next week with Jon Nurse, Charlie MacDonald and Sam Cowler.

“John Akinde and Mauro Vilhete have two more years on their contracts while Graham Stack, Sam Muggleton and Keanu Marsh-Brown all have one more year.”

Everybody at Barnet FC would like to place on record their thanks to both Lee Cook and Jack Saville for all of their efforts with the club and would like to wish them all the very best for the future.
