Ricardo Santos has come to Barnet with two very simple aims: to play games and get promoted.
And the towering centre-half – standing at 6ft 5in – made the ideal start on that front as he helped the Bees to a 1-0 win over Plymouth Argyle on Bank Holiday Monday.
Victory over the league leaders leaves Barnet in 9th place in EFL League Two – just two points shy of the play-off places.
Speaking after a fine debut alongside Michael Nelson, Santos said: “I feel great. I have come here to win games and the boys showed great character out there to keep the win.
“We have shown what we can do. Now we have to kick on and win promotion.
“We know what we can produce. Now we have got to kick on and keep doing what we’re doing.”
The defender moved to The Hive London from Peterborough United on New Year’s Eve, signing in a move worth £100,000.
“It has been a bit mad,” Santos said of the past few days. “I had to come down from Peterborough at seven o’clock in the morning to seal the deal but it’s all for a good cause and I’m happy for that.
“Rossi and Henry said I should come to get games, enjoy my football and this is a good club.
“The Chairman has put a lot of money into the team – and the facilities are great. I’ve come to play games and get promoted.”
