Scott Loach looks to move forward after Cup exit

Barnet FC suffered a 2-0 home defeat on Sunday to League One side Fleetwood Town after two goals from Ched Evans ended this seasons FA Cup campaign.

Loach made numerous important saves to keep his side in the game but felt that not enough was done to challenge the visitors.

“We didn’t create enough today or give them the onslaught they would have expected.

“They’re League One, they came here and were professional so we’ve got to give them credit because some teams can drop to this level and not really fancy it but they showed up today and did a job on us and showed us the level that we aspire to be.”

The 31-year-old also spoke of his enjoyment playing alongside the plethora of youth talent that has come through the academy.

“At the end of the day these games are one-offs and you’ve got to enjoy them with a young side like ours with lots of potential.

“It’s a good chance for them to showcase themselves and see if they can handle it because fair play to the gaffer he will throw a young lad in and it’s a good opportunity for them to be put on that stage.”

In particular, it was exciting to see 18-year-old Odem Chime make his debut for Barnet in the latter stages of the game and Loach was full of praise for the young forward.

“Like I said, the gaffers not afraid to give them a chance and he lets them train with us and Okem’s come on in training and he looked like Drogba the other day, he was quality.

“After the game, we all gave him a round of applause and we hope that’s the first of many for him. He’s just got to grow as a player now and grow with us so he can be a big asset for us.”

Looking ahead, the Bees still have a long league campaign ahead of them that starts back again next Saturday at home against Stockport County.

“Stockport will have a good following and will make it hard for us but if you want to be up there, you’ve got to win and give these fans something to cheer about.

“We can’t keep winning one and then not win the next two so it will be nice to put a bit of a run together. We’ve done it before earlier on in the season to put ourselves in the mix.

“I want to play at Wembley no matter what the competition is, you want to win things as a player. There’s a lot of opportunities for us players, we’ve got a big squad and the lads have got it in them to drive us forward.”
