Barnet continued their unbeaten start to the 2013/14 season with a 0-0 draw away against Tamworth.
In a tightly contested match the Bees emerged as the better side but they were unable to punish their opponents in the final third.
Curtis Weston twice went close from range but Tamworth keeper Cameron Belford twice denied him, the Bees were also strong at the back and they’re yet to concede this season.
The home side created the first chance of the match inside the first minute as Richard Peniket headed wide following an Andy Yiadom handball.
Three minutes later the Bees had their first sight at goal as Elliot Johnson fired just over from 35-yards.
With 10 minutes played the Bees had the ball in the net via Weston who looped the ball over Belford. However, the midfielder was unable to reach Yiadom’s stunning pass with his head so he punched the ball home and received a yellow card.
Captain Stack picked up a yellow card just two minutes later after a heavy, but fair, challenge on Peniket who was running through on goal.
Byrne was next to try his luck with a looping header that drifted just wide before Jake Hyde flicked a header across goal and away to safety.
Weston had another shot from range before the end of the half but Belford comfortably saved.
The Bees made one change at the break with Anthony Acheampong coming on for his first league appearance for the injured Jack Saville who enjoyed an impressive first-half.
The second period began how the first ended with Weston trying his luck from distance only to be denied by Belford.
On 61 minutes Luke Gambin and Johnson combined well down the left before the former fired the ball at Belford who just tipped the ball to safety.
Ten minutes later Keanu Marsh-Brown saw his 30-yard free-kick well saved before he was replaced by Marciano Mengerink.
Hyde almost snatched victory for the Bees with five minutes remaining but he smashed the ball over from a Byrne corner.
Gateshead is the next stop for the Bees who face a second away trip in five-days this Saturday.
