THE MILLERS VISIT THE BEES

On the eve of Barnet’s home match against Rotherham United Head Coach Mark Robson has stated that “it is important that we stick together and start showing everybody just what Barnet FC is all about.”

His call for solidarity comes with the Bees still searching for their first win of the season and the need for a collective effort against the big spending Millers is what will be required to come away from this fixture with anything to show for it.

Barnet have lined up in the last two away fixtures with a 4-1-4-1 formation but with doubts over the fitness of Barry Fuller, Mark Byrne, Jon Nurse and Andy Yiadom the Head Coach may find his options limited.

However the encouraging recent showings by Academy Scholars Jamal Lowe and George Sykes have been a welcome development. Infact when the Bees were searching for an equaliser at Aldershot in midweek it was the two teenagers who were pushed the furthest forward.

Lowe has said that although when he’s played for the youth set-up he has preferred to play as a striker but when on first-team duty he has very much enjoyed playing on the right flank. He certainly knows how to put a shift in and unless he is to be rested he has done enough to put a forceful case for keeping his place in the line-up.

Mark Robson has said of the duo, “they’ve both recently gained valuable experience of playing in the first team which will undoubtedly hold them in good stead.”

Skipper Jon Fortune describes the work ethic of the squad, “We are working really hard as a squad to turn things around. The gaffer has told us that we’re going to keep working hard until things change and that if we work hard, we will see the difference.

“We had a double training session on Thursday, and on Tuesday and Wednesday we spent time working on the little things that can really make a difference during matches.”

All Barnet fans must be hoping that this diligence and attention to detail is about to bear fruit.
